Teach Guitar and Make Money!

Are you confident on guitar? If so why not utilize that skill to teach guitar and create a great source of valuable income? In this article I'll begin to show you how I and others have done it so that hopefully you can do it for yourself.

Let's explore one of the great myths of teaching guitar - that you must be an amazing player to do it. This is really not true at all. When you teach guitar the majority of students coming to you for lessons will be beginners on acoustic guitar as they represent the mass market of 'guitar students'.

Assuming you have been playing for a few years and are confident on guitar that is often all you need to be able to teach guitar to others. The best thing is that you already have the required skill; you dont need to learn anything new! Youre simply making use of a talent you already possess to create income for yourself.

Here's the number one most important thing to teach guitar, even more that your playing ability, you need to be a good communicator with a friendly and approachable personality.

Can you go back in your mind and remember just how hard it was to play guitar when you first started? This is a very important first step. When you teach guitar you need to see things from the students point of view. Now changing from G to C is so effortless and easy, but it was not always that way... at one time it seemed really hard and this is how you begin to identify with beginners and teach guitar effectively.

So if there's one thing to establish as a first step before teaching it's to remember your own experience of learning guitar and place yourself in the shoes of your students. By doing that you give yourself a real chance of being able to teach guitar as an expert and fill your timetable with long term students.

Here's the good stuff those of us who teach guitar enjoy. First, extra money and the ability to generate it practically anywhere. I've lived in many different area's, countries and settings and in each case I've been able to successfully teach guitar in my local area. A second great advantage is the freedom of being able to take a long weekend whenever I felt like it, or decide my own holidays, raise or lower my lessons fees. When you teach guitar for yourself, you are in control.

Part time or full time, when you teach guitar you have an enormous flexibility to structure your teaching hours as you like so they can fit around all your other commitments.

Check to see what competition you would have in your area for teaching guitar. You have the freedom to manipulate your lessons fees so you can compete should this be the case and well, you may find yourself in the great position of being the only guitar teacher around.
