How To Learn Electric Guitar

By Payo W Perry

Deciding to learn electric guitar is an exciting thing. It can often come about after hearing a friend play or perhaps a particular solo in a song which you would give anything to be able to play. Basically you've been inspired to achieve something.

Since acoustic guitar is often the cheaper option to start with most people begin there and move on to electric after a year or so. It certainly doesn't have to be that way but having some playing experience on acoustic guitar - strumming chords ECT, will help you to progress that bit faster on electric.

An important decision is what style of guitar will be your main interest? What is the style you're most excited about and feel the most motivation to learn? It's important as learning electric guitar is a very different experience depending on what you want to learn. Someone taking electric guitar lessons for Jazz, for example, is going to be a world apart from another learning Metal right?

There's no real hard and fast rule for how to learn electric guitar correctly. That's why its so cool and accessible to everyone. For the fastest results my advice would be to use a combination of lessons with a local tutor and teaching yourself online. There are many resources for how to play electric guitar so take advantage of them all in combination.

Finally a warning, please learn things which are easy and gradually build up your technique. Its going to take a while - all worthwhile things do. Even though you may be dying to learn that favorite song or solo you must stay within your current level and gradually build it up. If you attempt to play things which are too difficult for you now you'll end up very frustrated, you'll fail, you'll quit.

So what do have from all of this? You'll give yourself the best chance to learn electric guitar by practicing a little bit each day, using a combination of 1-1 tuition with online lessons and building up your technique gradually. Good luck. - 18780
