The Most Successful Motion Picture Franchise In History- James Bond

By Michelle R Clark

The James Bond 007 movies are the most fiscally thriving English language movie franchise to date. The English novelist Ian Fleming developed James Bond 007 in 1953. Mr. Bond was featured in twelve novels and two short story collections. The show franchise began with "Dr. No" in 1962.

Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond, passed away back in 1964 but the impressive character of James Bond lives on in novels by up to five other writers, such as Robert Markham, the pen name for Kingsley Amis, John Pearson, Raymond Benson, John Gardner and Sebastian Faulks. Christopher Woods novelized two screenplays and various other writers' wrote unendorsed versions of James Bond.

The movies started in the year 1962 with "Dr. No", the last film was "Quantum of Solace" from October 31, 2008. There have been 22 films to date with a 23rd now in the works.

All through the years a variety of actors have portrayed the lead character of James Bond. Sean Connery is contemplated to be the original James Bond. He was Bond in 6 special movies, starting with the first "Dr. No" in 1962, followed by "From Russia With Love" in 1963, "Goldfinger" from 1964, "Thunderball" in 1965, "You Only Live Twice" in 1967 and "Diamonds Are Forever" from 1971.

In 1969 "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" came out with an performer named George Lazenby in the main role. Of all the stars to depict Bond, Mr. Lazenby was the only one who only acted in one movie. In 1971, Sean Connery returned for "Diamonds Are Forever".

Roger Moore then took over the starring role. He played Bond in 7 movies from the 1973's "Live and Let Die", "The Man with the Golden Gun" in 1974", "The Spy who Loved Me" in 1977, "Moonraker" from 1979, "For Your Eyes Only" in 1981, "Octopussy" in 1983, and " A View to a Kill" in1985.

Timothy Dalton was next for "The Living Daylights" in 1987 and "License to Kill" in 1989. After just two films with Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan took over the prime role in "Goldeneye" in 1995. We enjoyed 3 added films with Pierce Brosnan, "Tomorrow Never Dies" in 1997, "The World Is Not Enough" in 1999 and "Die Another Day" in 2002.

Daniel Craig, the only blonde James Bond to date, is the existing lead role for the Bond franchise. He has starred in 2 movies so far, with at least one more anticipated for the future. Daniel Craig was Bond in "Casino Royale" from 2006 and "Quantum of Solace" from 2008. - 18780
