The Beatles 2009 Remasters
The Beatles Remastered Stereo CD Box Set was made available on 9/9/9 it immediately became the ultimate standard for The Beatles classic albums.
These stereo versions sound far better than the old CDs from the late 80s. When when I compare these new remasters to the older compact discs it's like the older CDs are under a pile of old blankets while the new CDs sound warm and clear so that all of the vocals and instrumentation push through the mix like never before.
The Beatles Remastered Stereo Box Set isn't the only box set by The Beatles that came out in September 2009 but it is the most popular because it can be enjoyed by the widest range of Beatles fans. The Remastered Beatles in Mono Box Set is amazing too but it appeals mostly to hardcore fans who need to hear the 1960s mono mixes (because that's how the albums were "meant to be heard") than to the average music fan. While I will agree with the "purists" that there are some songs that sound better in mono than in stereo (particularly some of the pre Peper recordings) all things considered I believe the stereo set does sound better.
The fab thing about The Beatles in Stereo CD Box Set is that it lets you to acquire The Beatles entire 60s catalog with just one order and when one considers the high quality of all of their CDs, it makes sense to order all of The Beatles albums at once rather than purchasing some and going back for the rest later.
And beyond the wonderful songs included in this set there are also some groovy visual bits, the- mini documentary (for each studio album) DVD is the most obvious. Along with this mini documentary DVD there are also extended liner notes for every CD (there is some interesting stuff in these notes, especially for new fans) and some great previously unpublished pictures.
I'm such a big fan of The Beatles that I've bought (or am planning on getting) The Beatles in Stereo Box Set, The Beatles Mono Set, The Beatles Apple USB Stick, and The Beatles Rock Band Video Game. But if I had to choose only one of these items, it would have to be the complete stereo box set because it's the best way to listen to their music and of course, it is the classic albums that made them the most popular band ever. - 18780
