Clearly one key to having a chartbuster hit is to produce a movie that results in a lot of media coverage and frenzy. The year was 1961 and "The Last Time I Saw Archie" was Webb's single try at comedy and is less foolish than some of his more serious films; a shame, since William Bowers' script-based on his own Army experiences had real potential, and Mitchum nicely underplays as the con guy. Ruby Gentry came out in 1952. Pompous, strolling account of simple-minded Southerner Jones wedding wealthy Malden to spite Heston, the gentleman she loves Cast includes Jennifer Jones, Charlton Heston, Karl Malden, and Josephine Hutchinson.
