Reviewing IPod MP3 Speaker Systems

By Michael Marrow

Who can forget about that Sony walkman that used to be the best companion while travelling, during 1980s? The music lovers used to move along with their cassettes, walkman and battery to enjoy the music where ever they wanted. After that the Discman that was also released by Sony and which played CD invented by Phillips became very popular among the people. Ever since the time of walkman there is improvement in the field of portable music to a large extent.

Music has never been the same again since portable music was introduced via Compact discs or CDs. These introduced studio sound music to the public and music quality has never been the same again. But CDs have their drawbacks. They are generally bulky and therefore cumbersome. This leads them to occupy large storage space. CDs also succumb to extremes of heat and cold and are also easily scratched. In this regard, CDs are no different from their predecessors, the 12'vinyl. Today, Apple we have the iPod which at this point is regarded as the ultimate in portable audio/visual.

The iPod also boasts a huge memory capacity. This allows users to store, not one, but hundreds of CDs in one tiny device! Instead of traveling with a bag full of CDs or cassettes, one can easily download entire musical libraries into their IPod in digital format.

Recent innovations have now brought us portable speakers for the iPod. These are have become hugely popular. This is because instead of one person listening to their music using headsets, an entire group can enjoy quality music or podcasts. This is ideal especially for college settings and other study groups.

There is wide range of iPod speakers available in the market. But one should select the speakers on the basis of their needs and requirements. There are many companies who are trying to gain the benefits by manufacturing such speakers and other accessories, but it is always better to take a product of good company like Logitech which has created good quality accessories and speakers.

When shopping for iPod speakers, there is as wide an array as there are manufacturers. This is because other than the regular household names' electronics manufacturers, there are many other manufactures who have capitalized on the rise of the iPod. These are now creating speakers and other accessories.

Altec Lansing is another company that has gained notoriety in the realm of IPod speakers. Altec has been known more for making car stereo speakers but they have now thrown in their weight behind the Ipod speaker market. A pair of iPod Altec Lansing speakers will cost you around $200.00. Others are more costly such as the InMotion i600 and the Pure-Fi Dream which can run you well over $200.00.

The Chestnut Hill Sound Gorge speakers have also made a name for themselves. They have gained renown due to their exceptional sound quality. These are costly however, being found in the range of $500.00 or more. IPod speakers are definitely here to stay. Anyone who is serious about transforming their musical experience should invest in a pair of these. - 18780
