Four Ways to Learn How to Play the Piano

By Michael Mickey Charles

1.The earlier the better. One of the best ways to learn is to begin at an early age. It is always easier for children to learn to play a musical instrument like the piano than it is for adults. This is because of two basic reasons. One is that children simply love to learn. Older people find it harder and are often frustrated by the time it takes to learn. For adults the desire to learn can easily be lost because of the long process of learning. There is also the distractions of everyday life's responsibilities. For children the opportunity to learn and discover offers great enjoyment.

2. Join a band. A band of beginners that is. There is nothing as important when learning how to play the piano as a person?s ability to develop a true love of the instrument. That is why joining a band with other people who may be just starting out on their own musical endeavor can be so rewarding. Being surrounded by other people who enjoy performing and learning new music can be fundamental in keeping a new piano player interested, committed and passionate.

3.Stick with it.The piano, often called the 'king of instruments' takes time to learn to play and master. A learner may well think that they have now 'got it' only to find that they have just scratched the surface. This is an instrument that transcends all styles and genres of music and even highly seasoned pianists cannot fully master all the capacities of the instrument.

4. Listen to others. One of the best ways to learn to play any instrument is to listen to the music of other accomplished musicians. Learning to play is, like music, largely a hearing experience. As a beginner learning to play and listening to other pianists enables one to hear the endless styles of piano music as well as the infinite capabilities associated to various types and models of pianos. - 18780
