Some Distinctive Film Overviews

By Helene Mccoy

It wasn't that long ago that a trip to the corner video shop was the most convenient way to get a movie. You can now save a trip to the video store and download movies right off the internet. Let's look at what you might find to watch using a movie download site.

The Crying Game: Remarkably primordial and adult tale with Rea as an IRA volunteer who helps seize a British cadet Whitaker only to befriend him and later become engaged with his lover. What starts as a thriller impulsively turns into a poignant and sarcastic love tale, with structure twirls that deepen the film's virtually dreamlike voltage. An exclusive, provocative film that author-controller Jordan lugs off with poetic comfort; he made an Oscar for his screenplay. Cast includes Stephen Rea, Miranda Richardson, Woodland Whitaker, Jim Broadbent, Ralph Brown, Adrian Dunbar, and Jay Davidson. (112 minutes, 1992)

The All-American Boy: Jumbled tirade in reference to Olympic optimistic Voight's try to be successful as a boxer; striking locations of northern California, although that's all. Cast includes Jon Voight, Ned Glass, Anne Archer, and Carol Androsky. (104 minutes, 1989)

The Last Tycoon: Action and beautifully orchestrated quarrels, with climactic battle rivaling finale of The Crazy Group. Extremely bloody film and followed by Shogun Assassin. Cast includes Robert De Niro, Tony Curtis, Robert Mitchum, Jeanne Moreau, Jack Nicholson, and Donald Pleasence. (127minutes, 1976)

Striptease: Erin Grant is a stripper at the Eager Beaver. She is trying to raise enough money to get her daughter back from her divorced jerk of a former husband. Things spin out of control for Erin when a corrupt congressman comes to the club and takes a liking to her.

Daring Game: This is not a poor venture tale of underwater master guess who. He is looking for spouse and baby girl of his prior lady friend. Cast includes Laslo Benedek, Lloyd Bridges, Nico Minardos, Michael Ansara, and Joan Blackman. (100 minutes, 1968)

Rocky V: Rocky has retired from boxing. A brain injury from his last fight makes continuing impossible. He becomes a trainer, and his first pupil, Tommy Gunn, leaves him because he won't move him up quick enough. After winning the title with another trainer, Tommy wants to fight Rocky to gain respect. Since Rocky isn't allowed in the ring, they will have to do it as a street fight.

Signs: A small family in Bucks County Pennsylvania has seen some strange goings on. There are crop circles in the fields. Things get much scarier when the see a strange being moving around outside the house. Just what is going on?

Seabiscuit: This movie is a dramatization of the true story of Seabiscuit, a magnificent racehorse in the 1930's. The jockey, the trainer, and the owner had all fallen on hard times. Seabiscuit was a racehorse that no one believed in. This wonderful horse leads these men out of the tough times, and on to better things. He was a true racing legend.

D'j' Vu: Using a super advanced surveillance system that allows the operators to look back 4 and ' days in time. This allows them to see any event as it happens, like a video. They bring the device in to investigate a terrorist bombing. Once BAFT agent Doug Carlin understands what will happen, he takes things further. He convinces one of the operators of the device to use the machine to send him back in time, to the beginning of the 4 and ' days. He then can try to save the life of someone who died in the tragic attack.
