Ever since the'90's, the female vocalist has shared the spotlight with male singers. The singer/songwriter emerged in the'90's with the alternative rock scene, as artists like Alanis Morrisette, Natalie Merchant, Natalie Imbruglia, Tracy Chapman, and many others experienced some great commercial success.

Some of today's most talented female music artists come from the indie rock world. This breed of intelligent rock allows artists to creatively express themselves, and some great talent is here for us to enjoy as a result.

This article is going to focus on a few of the biggest female talents in indie rock music today, with their vocals being the deciding factor in who makes the list. While there are dozens I could easily list here, I'm going to limit this article to my favorite four.

If you've never heard Regina Spektor's music, I envy you. I can remember being moved the first time I heard one of her songs a few years ago, and I immediately bought her album.

Her voice is believed my many to be one of the best in music today, and some exceptional songs over the last few years have showcased her raw talent.

If you haven't heard of Chan Marshall, perhaps you've heard of Cat Power. Marshall goes by Cat Power as a stage name, and she's sat atop the indie charts for many years since becoming popular earlier this decade. Power writes original compositions, in addition to covering many classic songs.

Another one is Sharon Jones. A Motown singer in her 50's, she's paired up with the Dap Kings, a backing band, and the unlikely combo has produced some exceptional music. Jones' voice is one of the freshest and best in music today, and her retro style is appreciated by many fans.

Gaining steam is Shara Worden, also known as My Brightest Diamond. She has a pristine voice, and while her original work doesn't always highlight it, some of her cover songs certainly do. Worden has one of the best voices around. - 18780

When it comes to portable media devices these days there is one real definite leader in when it comes to marketplace share and unit sales, and that is the Apple iPod. I purchased the 80GB 605 Wifi model a few months ago and am thoroughly swayed that I made the right choice in ditching my iPod.

There are quite a few various characteristics that split the Archos MP3 players from other brands of players on the market. Of course, the device plays music, and with 80GB of storage space, I've been able to load my entire collection onto the 605 Wifi with plenty of room to spare. It supports quite a few separate types of five, including .wav,.mp3, and the.WMA whether it is protected or not. It is a really nice feature because it means that I don't have to wait around for conversion software in order to download my songs. Features like this make it a much more versatile and convenient player than many other brands.

You get a bunch more than a simple music player with the Gen 5 line though. Archos MP3 players have a superb 4.3-inch full-color touchscreen that can be activated with the touch of a finger or the included stylus, making navigation through the various menus a simple task. The brilliant quality of the monitor makes it perfect for watching TV shows, streaming YouTube videos, or even watching movies. It yields an amazingly sharp picture that is plainly visible in all kinds of lighting. Whenever I see somebody trying to watch a movie or something on their tiny iPod display I just have to shake my head and feels sorry for them. The Archos MP3 player is a bunch better choice than the smaller iPod so there's no reason to put yourself through the misery of that situation.

What I love most about Archos MP3 players is the way I can handle all of my contents without having to be tied to a computer. I can download my songs and movies and other videos on the go because it has a WiFi connection. Furthermore, the incorporated Opera web browser makes it effortless for me to surf the Internet, check my email, and play games wherever I am -- something that's not possible with most other devices out there. With those other brands, you're basically stuck with whatever content is on the player already, and can't perform an update until the next time you're sitting in front of your PC.

If you're honestly considering the purchase of a portable media player, stand out from the horde and make the investment into something that's a bunch better than the name brand iPod. I undeniably recommend giving the Gen 5 Archos MP3 player a spin. They are a lot more sophisticated scientifically and they have better prices than all of the rivalry.
